Audi saw an increase of 2% in the sales of their A4 convertible. BMW also saw an increase in the sales of their 3 Series brand. This brand, available in a convertible, sedan, coupe, and wagon, had an increase of 12% from 2006. Cadillac saw one of the largest increases in sales during 2007, with their Escalade brand. Their sales were up by 22% from the previous year. Chrysler was one company that took a hit in 2007, with overall sales down by as much as 37% from the year before. Hummer was one of the biggest sellers in 2007. Their H3 SUV had an increase of over 60% in sales from 2006. Their H2 SUV was one of the worst sellers of the year though. Hyundai also saw a large increase in sales of their Sonata sedan. Kia was one of the few companies that remained a top seller with a relatively low priced car. Their Spectra retails for less than $14,000 and was one of the best sellers of the year. Land Rover had the best selling auto of the year with their Range Rover Sport SUV. Pontiac had a top seller with their relatively inexpensive, yet expensive looking G6 convertible.
Best Selling Autos of 2007
Each of the major car manufacturers had a best selling auto this year. With Acura, it was the TL Sedan with a selling price of just over $33,000. The best selling auto from Audi was also one of the best sellers of any vehicle in 2007. The Audi A4 convertible, with a price tag of nearly $48,000, was one of the best selling vehicles of the year. BMW’s best selling auto from 2007 was their 3 Series autos, with prices starting at just over $33,000. For Buick, their best seller was their newest vehicle, the Lucerne sedan, while Cadillac had a hit with the Escalade. The Escalade is available for around $56,000 and comes in a truck and SUV version. Chevrolet’s best selling auto was the Silverado pickup truck, but sales were down significantly from the previous year. Despite a heavily hyped marketing campaign for the resurgence of the Monte Carlo line, it was their worst seller of the year. The Chrysler brand had a large number of disappointments in 2007. Though their best selling auto was the Town & Country minivan, sales were significantly down. Dodge is another company that saw even the sales of their best selling auto drop from the previous year. Their best selling auto was the Dodge Ram pickup with a base price of $22,000. Ford was yet another car manufacturer whose best selling auto was a pickup truck. In this case, it was the F Series pickup truck with a base price of just under $20,000. GMC also had a best selling pickup truck. Their Sierra pickup truck dropped slightly in sales, yet remained one of the top sellers of the year.
Honda’s best selling auto of 2007 was also their lowest priced vehicle, the Accord coupe and sedan starting at under $19,000. Hummer had one of the biggest sellers of the year with their H3 SUV. For Hyundai, their best seller was the Sonata sedan, while Infiniti had a good seller in their G coupe and sedan. Jaguar saw an overall decrease in sales, though they did sell a large number of their S-type sedan. Jeep was another company that had a decrease in sales, yet their Grand Cherokee remained a top seller. The top seller at Kia was the Spectra, which was also one of the best sellers of the year. Land Rover saw the largest increase in sales, and also had the best selling auto of the year with their Range Rover Sport SUV. While the top seller at Lexus was the RX SUV, Lincoln’s top seller was the Town Car. Mazda’s best seller was the Mazda 3, and Mercedes E-Class sedan was also a good seller. Mercury had a top seller with the Grand Marquis, and Mitsubishi’s best seller was the Galant sedan. Other top sellers of 2007 include the Nissan Altima, the Pontiac G6, the Porsche 911, and the Saab 9-3. The Saturn Ion, Scion tC, Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Jetta, and Volvo XC90 SUV rounded out the top sellers for the 2007 car buying season.
